Project Monarch Butterfly

Welcome to The Flutter!

Project Monarch Butterfly is dedicated to re-establishing milkweed habitat for our beloved Monarch Butterflies, one plant at a time.

The Monarch Butterfly has been placed on The Endangered Species List.

The solution is simple: Plant Milkweed.

See below for the Pledge to Plant Milkweed today!

The solution is easy…

Plant Milkweed!

“Monarch Butterflies are a symbol of joy, hope, innocence and childhood. My childhood was filled with chasing Monarch Butterflies! When I had my own children, I wanted to share my joy. However, I began to realize it was hard to find Monarch Butterflies to chase and to share the same joy I experienced as a child. The Monarchs had seemingly disappeared! I then began to research what was happening to the Monarch Butterfly population. I discovered Monarch migrations had declined 80-90% over the last few decades due to pesticides, habitat removal, human encroachment and climate change. I also realized the answer was simple: plant milkweed. If we all plant milkweed plants in our yards or neighborhoods, we would have a huge impact on the Monarch population. Milkweed is a hardy plant with beautiful flowers and can be grown easily or bought at your local nurseries (just be sure to choose plants that are native to your area.). Just like a “flock of birds”, let’s create our “flutter of butterflies”! Join the Flutter and take the Pledge to Plant Milkweed!”
